ART and crafts...
Ladies, feel like having fun? Come and join our Arts and Crafts Group!
We meet every Wednesday at Heaven on Vaal from 09h00 to 12h00. You don’t have to have any drawing or art experience just an urge to unleash the artist from within you ~
Almost all of the things we make at Art & Craft Club the children will be able to bring home, however on some sessions we will be making things to display around the school. On these occasions we will add photos so you will still be able to see the children's creations.
Such a style prevailed in homes throughout England and America during the latter half of the 19th century.
William Morris, the British poet, artist and architect rejected this idea of style in favor of simplicity, good craftsmanship and good design.
The Arts & Crafts Movement was born.
At the time of the emergence of this movement, protagonists argued that the Industrial Revolution had separated humans from their own creativity and individualism – in George Orwellian terms, the worker was a cog in the wheel, living in an environment of shoddy machine-made goods, based more on ostentation than function.
The Arts and Crafts movement brought some unity to this argument. It reestablished ties between beautiful work and the worker, returning to an honesty in design not to be found in mass-produced items.
Architecture, furniture, and the decorative arts became the focus of the movement.
A wide range of art and craft courses is available for learners of all abilities, offered at different times of the day and for a variety of length of course - from Drawing and Painting to Making Your Own Clothes, Watercolours to Ceramics, Machine Embroidery to Stone Carving.
Courses are available for beginners, improvers and for those wishing to expand their skills to move on to further and higher education or to start their own businesses. We can help you to develop new skills or improve existing ones, unleash your creativity, increase your understanding and raise your awareness.
Our tutors are fully qualified and have a wealth of experience. Many are practising artists, designers, artisans and craft workers bringing their professional expertise to the classroom.
Learners have said,
• “What an excellent course and supportive tutor”.
• “From having no idea how to draw or paint, I have learnt a great deal”.
• “Attending a course has made me see the world differently”
• “Attain what I first thought to be unattainable”.
